Great Webinar!

I purchased the above webinar with Heather Powers (of HumbleBeads fame), not quite sure what visually branding your jewelry business meant, so I knew I needed enlightenment. It went live Tuesday, Nov. 18th 11-12:00 MST which is New Mexico time. This is my first webinar, it was kinda cool. I could fix and eat my lunch, feed my dogs, and get ready for my Tuesday afternoon beading session with some special women all while listening to Heather. She was very easy to listen to, kept the topics interesting, fresh, relevant, and I thought it was definitely worth the $20 I paid. There were additional handouts and worksheets emailed to us after the class and we have access to the webinar for an entire year after our purchase. I already gave it a 5 star review on Interweave and so far it is the only non-pattern or magazine purchase I have made that I felt warranted that many stars. You can still order Heather Powers' webinar and learn all kinds of creative ways to visually brand your jewelry and right now the price is only $10! Go to the Interweave Store where it is very easy to sign up.

Edgy

For her birthday I made my daughter some beadwoven jewelry (Rebecca, if you are reading this right now, close your eyes and put the laptop away). She chose colors that would remind her of the ocean on her honeymoon in Tahiti. I downloaded pictures of their hotel and the beach and noted the progression of teals, turquoise, and blues. This bracelet represents the shallow water near their room on the water. It is a tutorial by Susanne Madeo-Mehner on her site called  Alles Meins. The site is in German, but very easy to navigate. There are many beautiful tutorials and I have purchased several of them. This bracelet tutorial was in English, easy to follow, and very easy to do. I believe an advanced beginner could do it with little or no problems. I will share the other goodies I made for Rebecca in a later post.

Estate Sales

I try to go to Estate Sales almost every weekend. When I know the sale has craft or sewing items up for grabs I get there a half hour before it starts. This is one of my better finds. The best price I can find Ultrasuede for is online-- $6.95 for an 8.5 x 8.5 inch square. This is a sampler for an upholstery or furniture store; it has over 100 10 x 10 inch squares of every shade and color and is treated for stain resistance. It cost me $60.00 which works out to less than $6.00 a square for more suede. It is the same thickness and suppleness as what I get online.

It is just a suggestion, but try going to Estate Sales, you can find all kinds of goodies!
